What’s the best aspect of it for you?
Well…I am an amateur woodworker and for this purpose, it is probably one of the best careers I can choose to pursue for myself. Woodworking itself has never changed in terms of my interests and my hobby, but nowadays people are more aware and knowledgeable; and they know about other industries where I work.
Woodworking is a hobby that you can choose to explore one of many options at every job interview (some you can choose at your college, others you can choose at your company’s campus and in a variety of other industries).
Now a woodworker can go from being in a company where he works with all the big brands, with the top-notch professionals and being a customer. It all becomes quite stressful and frustrating, as you are in a constant learning process with no real end goal or goal goal.
Woodworkers also have the freedom to work with the newest brands on the market that have the most modern technology in their designs, in terms of construction, tools, materials, etc. You are free to work with what has been done before.
So yeah…it is actually, one of the best professions in which you can have fun or a positive influence on others, even if you don’t have some real job title.
Have you ever been asked to do something that you just weren’t good at? What made that difficult?
Not at all. I have never really done anything that I am not very passionate about. Most of the time it’s something that I was really good at, but now I have learned that my passion sometimes leads to laziness.
If one year in college, I learned that I was good at woodworking, I would have stayed in school. Even though I am still extremely good at woodworking, I wouldn’t have been able to get a good job working for the most popular brands.
In this same year in college, I learned that I was good at mechanical engineering. There was a certain point where, after the first year, I thought, why am I still doing this when there are so many other jobs where I could just do this? So, after that experience, I have always been really aware that maybe I am not cut out for the business aspect; where I could just get a job at home or maybe I could apply for a position.
Are there any skills or talents you have that you don’t have to put any effort into?
