The “Pineapple Express” has hit the market in the USA. It starts at $4.4M and tops out at $8M. It was made from the same movie as “Titanic”. The idea was to build a giant rollercoaster to test whether “Titanic” is the best way to build a film (in the USA, at least) or just too expensive. The film was set in the Atlantic for $2m, but only earned $3.5M.
“The Pineapple Express” was supposed to be released in the autumn and would have been a sequel to “Titanic.” That fell through because of budget concerns. “One could argue (that) if ‘Titanic’ was the best way to build a film, ‘Pineapple Express’ was the worst,” said one observer who was intimately involved in the project.
A recent IMDB page lists a production company called “Titanic-Fusion” and a cast of “Titanic” stars “Barry Keoghan”, “Garth Crowe”, “Ian McKellen” and “Robert Sean Leonard.” The script is by Steven Spielberg, and this IMDB page lists Spielberg and “Titanic” collaborator Peter Berg as the producers. The casting has some controversy surrounding it.
