The world’s tallest building will open during the new year in Taipei.
Chenshan Tower, a 52-storey office block containing 3,500 apartments, has been scheduled to open in November 2016 as part of the city’s first major redevelopment plan, the Taipei City Government Office announced on Thursday.
“We are thrilled to finally be able to reveal the construction progress of this landmark building,” said Liu Peng, a deputy city councillor and Taipei district chief for the city government office.
The proposed office block was built by a construction consortium comprising the city government, Taipei Housing and Works Construction Co (Taicangzhuang) and a joint venture.
Under the plan, the tower will be topped by a 31-storey residential building containing 1,000 units, as well as a parking garage and restaurants, all topped off by a 16-storey office building for 5,500 people.
Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of 2017.
The tower will sit on the eastern portion of a development site being developed by a consortium including BNP Paribas and Shanghai Development Bank (SDB).
It’ll feature a five-star hotel at the entrance as well as a new multi-functional food court.
Chenshan Tower will be located beside a proposed luxury apartment complex, the “Sailor’s Paradise” area, that has been under development since 2014.
More than 100 apartments at Chenshan Tower have already been sold out, and hundreds more are planned to be constructed, according to the developer.
The complex is expected to include luxury shops and restaurants, a hotel, apartments with balconies and a helipad, and a shopping centre.
A new poll released by Gallup on Monday is the latest to show that the US’s popularity has taken a beating at home and abroad, and more than half of Americans have taken a step back from American politics.
The survey found that only 31 percent of respondents approve of the presidential performance of the President Barack Obama, while 53 percent disapprove of his work and his handling of foreign policy issues.
