So the first thing you need to know are what your account rights are. There are different types, depending on the type of player, but those are generalities.

The easiest type of account is the account that just makes it through a new character without any trouble whatsoever. After that, you’ll need to know how to use your account to buy/sell items, to buy/sell ships and pay real money. Those types of accounts are called “non-commercial,” and there are a ton of rules about what can be done with them, too.

It’s worth mentioning that if you have more than one account, you can make trade and sell your item without being linked to them. It also means you can put one item on the market and sell it with another item on the market. That is great for making money from other people’s accounts without getting scammed.

The more valuable (or powerful) type of account is one that’s owned by corporations or other high-class players that can give you “corporate status,” which allows for “free stuff” in-game. That’s great if you like the game but don’t want to waste your account on anything other than free stuff (e.g. “premium packages” or paid expansions, or selling ship skins through the marketplaces). Of course, you also have to consider your corporation’s policies on in-game items. For example, some corporations don’t do that much trading (it’s not just about money, mind you), and might try to discourage you with in-game bans if you do.
