Season 4: ‘Nothin’ like The Hunger Games. Season 5: ‘I’m pretty sure The Walking Dead is coming back.’ Season 6: ‘I don’t know, it’s like Twilight.’ (laughs) Season 7: ‘I don’t know, they were good and I just think The Game of Thrones is the best show. But there’s always room for more.’ Season 8: ‘I don’t know, I think it might be like Twilight.’
So what kind of food are you eating these days? I know we’ve been seeing some new food in your kitchen.
I love to cook a lot. I’m obsessed with all of the things I think have come up. It’s mostly food, but also just my family’s cooking and everything, and I’m always trying to bring a different flavor to it. I’ve been obsessed with a kind of sweetened coconut milk.
What’s it like to cook on those days when you can’t eat? You know your mind’s so open and there’s so much going on right now. It can be very overwhelming at first, but it’s worth it.
That’s the thing. I didn’t want my family to see what I make, so we keep in the dark. They’re very understanding and the fact that we make food together, it’s a really big thing for us because my dad, he’s an active chef, he cooks every week. There’s a great deal of love involved—it’s kind of one of those things that is not about me or my family, but it’s just part of our relationship. It’s not something we want to expose to my parents, and it’s something they’re like, “Alright. It’s yours.” It’s nice to share that with my family and to have them accept it and really enjoy it if they’re enjoying it myself as well.
So, if it is like a part of your upbringing, what do you make for yourself? I do make something every now and then, like I said, the coconut milk [laughs].
I’m always trying to come up with new recipes, and I get a lot of requests for one, and it’s very easy to put together, because, you know, coconut butter, if you’re looking for a coconut butter, it’s definitely the coconut oil—the coconut flour—that’s the base, the base of all of those things. Coconut milk is also just really good for everything else. Coconut creamer
