How do I make homemade dog food? – Arthur’s Pet Business Book

This is difficult for many dog owners. The very basics are to:

Melt the butter before you add the meat to the pot. If you can’t, you can always make a paste from a packet of condensed butter.

Cooked or uncooked dog, like dog food, does not need to be refrigerated

Once you add the ground meat in the pot, heat it to a boil over medium heat to reduce the thickness of each lump of meat. If you have a pressure cooker, use the lowest setting on its cooker to keep the meat from sticking.

Make sure your pan is clear so the meat and liquid will mix

Add hot water as you add each lump of meat

Don’t add too much water too soon!

After the meat starts boiling, remove from the heat and use a wooden spoon to break up all the water in the meat mixture. Keep it hot until you need it and it will cook more quickly.

How to freeze dog food

If you plan on freezing dog food, there are two important things you need to know about how to freeze it.

The first thing is that you have to keep the food in the freezer for about an hour and a half to 1 day. If you can, get the food and freeze it before you pack it into pouches. The food will last longer if you keep it in the freezer instead of in the refrigerator where temps are lower. I’m not saying this is the best thing or even that it is better but there are benefits to being able to freeze your food.

Another thing that is important to remember is that because the meat is a liquid, the hot water will solidify any remaining liquid inside of the meat. This is why a blender or food processor is best when freezing food. The best way to prepare or freeze your dog food is to make sure the meat is removed from the heat as soon as possible.

How to clean up food

When using dog food in your diet, it should be washed well once a month with cold water and fresh dish wash soap. Make sure to remove the old food before adding the new dog food.

A note on cleaning pet food:

Don’t use commercial cleaning products, cleaners, or anything that contains bleach! That will just add more chemicals to the food and you are never going to get any results anyway. There are commercial cleaning products that you can use. Just make sure that the product is sterile
