How do I become a certified ICF therapist?

Here are a few quick refreshes:

The ICF is a professional organization. Our goal is to ensure that ICF therapy is as enjoyable as possible for patients while helping them overcome life-limiting conditions by reducing chronic pain that exists as your result of any injury.

Our ICF curriculum consists of seven basic programs: Basic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Integrative Therapy, and Neurofeedback.

We are a nonprofit educational program. All of ICF’s resources are provided entirely free of charge to patients. Our program is designed to be easy to learn so that most patients can learn it on their own once they find the resources.


Our goal is to promote and protect ICF, and to improve our clinical training and supervision.

What are the different levels of training in ICF?

I’ll break all levels down into 1-3. I will give specific examples of each level if you are interested.

Basic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (BCBT): Basic therapy focuses on the patient’s underlying cognitive, behavioral, emotion, and mental health issues by helping them identify the reasons for their issues. You are not meant to learn to apply your techniques to the individual case. You are meant to learn to identify the problem and how to alleviate your symptoms. As part of the clinical experience of a CBT program, the patient is coached in coping with situations and coping behaviors. This could be a simple exercise such as writing an email or a brief story.
