Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S25
The most expensive camera for filmmaking is the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S25 which retails for just $5,800 on Amazon, where it currently has a 15% back in the bargain.
The DSC-S25 is a full frame sensor with a 14.3 megapixel sensor and a 1.04µm pixel size. Although it has the same sensors as the Sony RX100M, it lacks the higher resolution features of the latest Sony cameras and will be outclassed in most regards.
However, even with a higher resolution the Sony DSC-S25 still has some excellent features including a 3-axis image stabilizing system, a burst rate control which allows for up to 16 exposures with the burst mode, exposure compensation, and a silent mode.
You can look through more details for the S25 and see why it is such a great camera for beginners.
What cameras is Fuji out of this price range?
The Fujifilm X-T1 is available at an absolute bargain on Amazon for the low price of $2,399 – an absolute steal of a price for a camera that performs exceptionally well. The X-T1 is a 24MP APS-C capable sensor which is quite impressive considering the price tag, but its shortcomings do make this camera outclassed in many ways.
For starters, it has a 10s exposure time to get the most out of its low light performance, but there are other issues like poor performance in low light, lack of image stabilization, and image distortion. Its aperture control is also lacking, with no setting at all for aperture control.
However, it doesn’t have the camera’s full range of features like flash, metering and the ability to use it’s own battery.
However, if you’re looking for image quality for a super easy and enjoyable photography experience with one of the widest lenses available in terms of ISO and lens type (which I hope you are looking at when you choose this camera), then you might not be too disappointed with the X-T1.
I have a confession to make…
I’m a very competitive and high level player in the DSLR market.
My favorite camera for filmmaking is the Olympus OM-D E-M1.
This camera has some of the best image quality
