Rangers fans are facing chaos ahead of next month’s Championship clash with Hearts after Rangers FC confirmed the sale of their old club shirt to the new club.

Rangers have taken over the name and club shirt of Rangers FC from its former owners, the Glens.

The club says the sale will be completed later this year. It will be the first time the Club has seen a jersey change as a part of its official business.

The old Rangers shirt was given to the new club as a gift by a former owner, former Hearts board member David Somers. Mr Somers had been approached by Rangers and had offered to fund the purchase of a new Rangers shirt.

In a statement, Rangers said: “In respect of this significant moment in the club’s history, we have come to a mutual agreement, which we are pleased to announce will be taking place later this year.

“Rangers FC Ltd, will use the name and club shirts of the previous Glasgow Rangers FC and will now continue to serve fans who support the new club.”

The move means fans of both the old and new club will wear their respective jerseys.

Fans of the club, who have been celebrating the club’s 150th anniversary for four years, took to social media to celebrate the news.

Rangers have been selling their old Rangers shirts online for around a year, and now it looks like they will have the chance to follow in the footsteps of their former owner David Somers.
