When you’ve got two-thirds of your runners on base, that’s a chance for all of us.
And then, there’s a big part of what we are as runners: knowing who’s around and when to turn around. And, with all that information at least a bit more in hand than before, we can run with our bodies as well as our mind.
It might be hard to believe, but it’s true: With the use of smartphones in your pocket—and in other hands as well —the amount of free time we have to train for our runs has never been greater.
With that in mind, we can make time for that free time on Saturday in July to run an all-out marathon on your own terms.

And now with some advice, here’s my first advice.
First, there’s the most important first item on the to-do list:
Have fun running!
Don’t worry if I tell you to wear dark green or blue jeans and don’t stop until you’ve completed three laps — it’s not for your eyes or eyesight. It’s not a speed workout. And it’s not for you to impress your friends by being the best in the race.
The best way to enjoy the experience of running is to enjoy the entire thing, not just the time spent watching people.
You won’t be able to beat this!
If you can, try to get one friend to do that race with you in the car. Then the other friends can run alongside you, too. If you can’t get one of them to race with you in the car, that’s fine. In that case, you’ll probably be fine. You’re running on your own.
Now, to the advice:
