You are entitled to a free boiler replacement if:
you or any one of your family members has used a boiler to keep the house warm or to heat or cool a room
you or any one of your family members was injured with a boiler so you can get more benefits
You can get a free boiler replacement if:
you’re in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, etc
your local heating authority can help you, or if your landlord has helped you
you’re in the UK and do not qualify with ‘other reasons’
You may also be entitled to a free boiler replacement if your boiler breaks down.
Who has to pay for my boiler replacement?
You must pay for your boiler replacement or replacement boiler to a gas supplier.
You’re not required to pay your boiler if all:
your household does not have a gas meter in your address
your household does not have a gas meter on your landlord’s or your local heating authority’s property
you or your household did not have gas meters on the property before your boiler was installed
In addition, some heating providers may have set minimum gas prices if you’ve had a boiler installed. Your heater supplier must not use this as an excuse to charge you less than the minimum price unless your home has had a boiler fitted.
You can get help from your heating provider if you’re unsure what to do.
If you’re not sure what to do, get advice from your insurance company. They’ll tell you if you need to get a replacement boiler.
You may be able to get a free replacement boiler or replacement boiler with a smaller gas price if you’re not eligible for a free boiler replacement.
If you get a refund for your boiler replacement with a smaller gas price, you won’t be entitled to a free replacement.
Get help for your boiler replacement
If you can’t afford your replacement boiler, you can ask your local cooling authority to get a boiler for you. You may be able to get a free replacement boiler if your replacement boiler is a new model.
If you don’t have a heat pump
If you don’t have a heat pump, you can ask your landlord if the landlord has a spare heat pump in the property for you.
If the landlord has put a heater to your property, the landlord can charge you £7.65 a month to use the heat pump.
